...Well of course letting the Ghouls live together with the humans in Tenpenny Tower was another tragic mistake but that's a different story.
Bye, bye, Megaton!
I had a reference from some screenshots and a picture of Tila Tequila. My boyfriend found it when doing some kind of research about bikinis Well, then he had this vision of how the painting should look and I liked it, so I made it. Actually it was a little bit of an inside joke that I cannot explain here.
<EDIT>...shall explain now: Jinx is a character my boyfriend and me played together after finishing with our "serious" characters. She was the half-asian looking result that was to become "perfect", get the best PERKs, all skills to 100, discover everything and take the decisions we didn't before. Basically she is a cute looking, bisexual, egoistic manipulative person who is enslaving the capital wasteland wearing nothing but animal print underwear. In other words: She's amazing.
Now you will ask: "But where's the connection to Tila Tequila?" And I will answer of course: "The Bikini!" When my boyfriend saw this photo with the blue-yellow bikini he sent it to me by email after writing a "101" on her panties and telling me he found Jinx. The background reminded us of Tenpenny Tower and after a while it became like a two person meme.
So finally he asked me to make a painting based on it but making her resemble Jinx and for a long time I rejected this request. Because you seem to be allowed to paint a direct copy of the Tila Tequila photo like done in the majority of celebrity paintings you find on here (which in legal terms you aren't allowed to do). And you seem to be allowed to create fanart (which in legal terms you aren't allowed to do). But the crowd probably wouldn't allow you to use a celebrity photo as a reference in something completely different (which in legal terms you may be or may not be allowed to do depending on different factors). My boyfriend said that this way of thinking would be stupid. And he convinced me </EDIT>
Usually I try to only use free stock for references but I believe this is different enough to be no direct reproduction. I would like to link you to the original, but I don't know anymore where to find it.
EDIT (2011-02-02): Thanks to someone commenting at Kotaku I can now link you to the Tila Tequila photo I already mentionned [link] . I am not sure how precisely I rendered the body shapes, but as there was no evul tracing involved I'm sure she differs substantially
The rust texture is from cgtextures.com.
Painted digitally in MyPaint and Photoshop CS4.
By the way this is also my 101st deviation. How fitting!

I made this painting to express appreciation for Fallout 3 which is copyrighted by Bethesda Softworks. I hope they tolerate my interpretation.
